"This series shows a harmonious connection between the twin beauties of nature and man-made structures. The latter are set deep within the landscape, often seeming to be a part of it. These paintings are created from photographs, taken both locally and while traveling. My belief is that Canada is as beautiful as any country in the world. The breathtaking vistas we find fabulous in other countries are no more spectacular than those we take for granted at home. My hope is that these paintings reflect this concept. When an artist looks at a panorama, she/he isolates the most appealing part to paint. The artist makes further isolations when a painting is fractured (the last two paintings in this gallery). With this method, mini abstractions appear within the painting fractures and the whole can be seen as a landscape within a landscape within a landscape."
